Some shows are meant to be experienced in a big room. The Speakeasy Series is not that.
The Speakeasy Series is Friends of Historic Memorial Hall's intimate live music series, hosted in the cozy, atmospheric space at The White House Inn right here in Wilmington. The idea is simple: bring in artists worth hearing, put them in a room small enough that every seat is a good one, and let the music do the rest. No distractions. No distance between you and the stage. Just a great performer, a relaxed evening, and the kind of show you'll actually remember.
Shows are limited in size by design — this is deliberately close-quarters, and that's the point. Tickets are $20 and go on sale through our website. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
The 2026 season is underway, with more dates to be announced throughout the year.

Thursday, October 15 — Dana Robinson + Emerald Rae
Dana Robinson + Emerald Rae
Dana Robinson has spent the better part of four decades writing songs shaped by the American landscape — from the open highways he hitchhiked across the West as a young man to the Vermont hills he's called home since the late '80s. His songwriting blends old-time fiddle and country blues with a folk sensibility all his own, and it's carried him from Carnegie Hall to Ken Burns documentaries to thousands of shows across the U.S. and UK. This year he releases his 14th studio album, The Sound of the Word — six years in the making, and his most ambitious blend yet of contemporary songwriting and Southern old-time music. Opening the night is Emerald Rae, a fiddler and folksinger who mixes driving traditional dance tunes with her own songwriting. A U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, she's toured with the likes of The Cathie Ryan Band and Mick Moloney's Green Fields of America, bringing that same energy and chops to her own material. Together, they'll bring a night of deep-rooted songwriting and serious fiddle playing to the Speakeasy stage.

These shows are intentionally small. When a show sells out, it sells out. We recommend buying early.
Lineup is subject to change, sometimes with little or no notice. Artists may be added, withdrawn, or substituted. We'll do our best to keep ticket holders informed via our website and pre-show emails.
