December 10   Variety Show 5:00 PM · Lighting & Cocoa 6:00 PM · Rock Show 7:00 PM   Historic Memorial Hall, Wilmington, VT

The Holiday Concert is coming back to Memorial Hall — and it’s bringing two more parties with it.

For years, this was one of those annual traditions that marked the season in the Deerfield Valley — a night when the Hall filled up, local talent stepped into the spotlight, and the whole community got to exhale together before the year turned over. After a number of years dormant, and by popular demand, Friends of Historic Memorial Hall is bringing it back. Bigger than it was, and on purpose.

December 10 is a three-part evening. Come for one piece of it, come for all of it, come and go as your night allows.

5:00 PM · The Variety Show

We’re opening the night the way they used to do it — a holiday variety show in the spirit of those old Sinatra and Bing Crosby specials. Songs, a little schmaltz, and absolutely no apologies for either.

This one is built for our seniors, and especially for the folks who don’t get out to the Hall as often as they’d like to. It’s free to attend, and we’re working with Moover and the Deerfield Valley Rotary to make sure that getting here isn’t the thing that keeps anyone home. Figure about an hour, start to finish.

6:00 PM · Outside the Hall

Then we all head out the front doors. A tree lighting and a menorah lighting, a hot cocoa bar, marshmallows over a fire, and as much caroling as the crowd has got in it. Word is Santa may make an appearance — we’re not promising anything, but we’re not ruling it out either.

Also free, and built for every age in the family.

7:00 PM · The Rock Show

And then we plug in. The rock show is the piece of this night the town has loved for years, and we’re bringing in bands from all around the area to do it right. Loud, celebratory, and about as far from a silent night as December gets in Wilmington.

The majority of proceeds from the rock show go straight to the food pantry. Which means the best possible version of this evening is a packed room.

Lineup and giving details will be announced as they’re confirmed. For now: save the date, spread the word, and get ready to welcome The Holiday Concert home.
